About Overhead Door Company of Waterloo™
For more than sixty years, the Overhead Door tradition has been part of the Moore family legacy in Northeast Iowa. The story began in March of 1957, when Elmo R. Moore founded the Overhead Door Co. of Waterloo, Inc. Working from a modest office in the basement of the Home Coal Company—owned by his father, A.R. Moore—Elmo launched his new business with just one employee and a commitment to quality service.
As the years passed, the company steadily grew. By 1967, increased staff and a widening customer base led to a move to a larger facility at 324 W. 15th Street, where the company thrived for nearly two decades. In 1985, with 10 employees and continued expansion, the Overhead Door Company relocated to its current home at 800 Commercial Street. That same year, Elmo retired and passed ownership to his son, Patrick R. Moore, who had worked in the business since childhood. Under Patrick’s leadership, the company continued to serve thousands of customers across Northeast Iowa.
In 2000, a third-generation leader took the helm. Upon graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, Mason P. Moore became president, carrying forward the family’s dedication to service, quality, and community.
The Moore family’s commitment to growth continued in 2017, when Mason—alongside his wife, Sara, and their three children—identified the perfect location in West Union for further expansion. In 2018, Overhead Door Co. of Northeast Iowa proudly opened its doors, extending the company’s reach and strengthening its promise to provide dependable, professional overhead door products and services.
Today, our business has grown to include a skilled team of 15 employees and thousands of satisfied customers. Across generations, one thing has remained constant: the Moore family’s belief in honest work, strong relationships, and the highest level of customer care.
